Corruption lies everywhere, but when it comes to healthcare services, it does not spare this one as well. While it is the ethical responsibility of healthcare professionals and organizations to keep this profession at least corruption free, but people play with the lives of people, by misusing the power they have to save lives of people, or doom them if they want to.
The prime focus of the movie “Puncture” is underlining issues, and a show of a relation of corruption with healthcare. A nurse get infected because of getting pricked by a contaminated needle, and how a lawyer, who himself is a drug addict fights the case along with his friend, to reach to a particular nexus, in which the whole story revolves.
The story of “Puncture” also shows that how money power works to buy the best defense lawyers and get the case settled out of the court under the payment of certain amount of compensation, instead of getting punished rightly by the court.
The mess and controversy of the story “Puncture” questions a lot of things. It focuses on the issue that thousands of nurses all over the world die due to infections they get by the accidental contamination by used needles, which are not safe, and is made safe by the pharmaceutical companies, and syringe manufacturers. The plot also focuses on how syringes are reused, and a lot of patient’s life is kept on the verge of jeopardy just to save a few pennies on a new syringe or a new needle.
